Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Carlisle, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Pennsylvania run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

You can reach Issei Noodle at (717) 243-7826; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

Carlisle is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Carlisle is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

This is really a hidden gem! Very unique place, with a chill and relax vibe in downtown Carlisle, we did not expect to find a place with our favorites prepared so well in our visit to the area, we went twice in our 5 days visit, it closes early so we couldnβt have a 3rd time. The flavors were very good, we loved the Issei fried chicken, our favorite, the sauce was so good, sweet and salty, perfect, itβs a must, kids enjoyed their Ramens as well as Boba teas. The tofu dish and shasu pork with vegetables were also great, even the small chicken soup which is just broth was perfect for the rainy day. The service is excellent, young people, very polite and so friendly with great suggestions and ready to help with the menu. The whole place feels comfortable and inviting, very traditional but modern. A really great option if you are in the area.

Really liked the food and the vibe of this place. The set up is really cozy. You have to pay immediately after you have placed an order, which may be little strange for some people. The flavor is are excellent and service is great.

Shio ramen is a bit too salty and haru warm ramen is too sweet. They completely forgot pomelo salad. I need to ask them for the salad. They were not busy in the afternoon. Service is quite lacking.

I came specifically for the takoyaki; it was absolutely deliciousβI highly recommend it. I also ordered a bowl of Chashu Ramen and a bowl of Tofu Miso Ramen; both were excellent and lived up to my expectations.

Food lacks flavor. Service was not serving. They sat us down at a table and rudely :( asked us to move to another table afterwards (we were totally flexible in moving for a bigger group that came in). While we were eating, maybe like 15 minutes into the meal, the servers asked 4x if we wanted a to-go box seemed like they wanted to rush us out.
